AACC Calls for Peaceful and Fair Elections in Mozambique
The All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), as an Ecumenical body with 210-member churches across 43 African countries, calls for peaceful, transparent, and fair elections in the upcoming elections in Mozambique on the 9th of October 2024.
This important occasion, set to take place on Wednesday, will determine the direction of the country’s leadership at various levels, such as the presidency, parliament, and provincial assemblies.
As the ecumenical body dedicated to promoting peace and justice and upholding democratic values across the continent, the AACC emphasizes the heaviness of these elections in Mozambique. We call upon all political leaders and stakeholders to engage in the electoral process with integrity and a commitment to ensuring peace prevails. As the AACC, we have deployed international observers to partner with our member churches, who have actively promoted civic education and encouraged voter participation.
We stand with the member churches to encourage all eligible voters to exercise their civic duty and vote peacefully. We also appeal to the electoral commission to be vigilant in their mandate to conduct free and fair elections. We stress the importance of impartiality and assurance that the result will reflect the will of the people in Mozambique.
We call upon the International community and all peace-loving individuals and organizations to support Mozambique during this crucial period. Let us pray for peace, unity, and a successful election in Mozambique.
